WEBB SHOW JUMPING
Sunrise ride out on the farm, the horses get a great deal of variety here!
Rising 3yo gelding learning the ropes of lunging!
Webb show jumping is a family run equestrian business, breeding and producing top quality New Zealand sport horses on their sheep & beef farm in the hills of Hunterville. Using a mix of fresh and frozen semen, carefully choosing the right stallion for each mare. Daniel and Chrissy pride themselves in producing well mannered, well schooled and well educated young horses.
The foals bred at WSJ are given the best chance to succeed at life as soon as they are born. Daniel works hard with making sure their hooves are in the best condition they can be from very early on. To ensure correct growth and help with any conformation defaults. Growing up on the hills means coming back to the stables every 6 weeks for handling and trimming. They all learn to lead off the bike and are exposed to lots of different situations helping with long term development.
All the rising 3 year olds are broken in each year after the competition horses go on holiday. They spend time getting mouthed, lunged and driven before having a handful of good farm and arena rides, before heading back out on holiday for another year.
Anasazi & Abenaki Chief, these are the first two horses that we bred. They both jumped at Horse Grand Prix Level.

Horses have been a huge part of both Chrissy and Daniels lives for ever. Chrissy grew up riding and competing to a high level in Scotland before relocating to NZ to work for Tony & Pauline Webb. Daniel had great success in his pony days winning multiple Pony Grand Prixs including Pony Of The Year twice. The horses took a backseat as Chrissy and Daniel worked hard to buy the farm and started a family. Tony, Daniel’s father gifted them Chinook who Chrissy competed in show jumping and eventing. Chinook was by Witzbold out of the same mare as Reservation. Tony and Reservation won many World Cups and went on to Europe to compete in the World Cup finals and Equestrian Games. She was the first mare they bred from and the rest is history!
Aside from the horses, there is always lots of farm work to do. If Daniel & Chrissy aren’t away at a show or working with the horses, they are usually busy mustering bulls for drenching and weighing.
Sheep, all have to be drenched, dagged and shorn which Daniel and Hana do themselves!
